One of the singer's most accomplished productions, Adalberto Santiago Featuring Popeye El Marino combines humor, romance, and swing in one great recording. Santiago manages to inject the production (the album is produced by Louie Ramirez and Santiago himself) with great vitality, as well as being effective in a few romantic interludes. The title tune is one of those rare examples of a seemingly dying trend: salsa with a comical effect. It seems that the singer and the composer, Johnny Vega, are having a great time with this tune. There are two romantic medleys that successfully show the singer's sensitive side. "Ay Caray" is, on the other hand, a masterful example of the artist swinging to devastating effect. A must for Adalberto Santiago and salsa fans.
