Slimmed down to what is basically a guitar and double bass accompaniment, (very fitting for her jazz/pop style), this EP highlights all that is great about the original album. The opening track, ‘I Belong To You’, is hauntingly beautiful in its stripped back and slow-tempo state, the unveiling of Caro’s vocals revealing an even more smooth and enchanting aspect of her voice than can be found on the original album. The same can be said for the 3rd and 4th tracks, ‘Paris’ and ‘The Wonderful in You’, the acoustic form and prominent bass really pushing through the haunting nature of these three songs. The Album’s second track, ‘Coming Back As A Man’, returns to the classy sassiness that has come to be expected from Emerald, and the remaining track ‘Completely’ provides us with both a fun and cheery escape that her style lends itself so well to. Finishing with a very fun and up-tempo version of her latest single ‘Liquid Lunch’, we are left feeling completely musically satisfied.. not to mention not even having to pay a penny!
